Coombs Wood 0 -
15 Westbury Celtic Youth
With the league already secured after a fantastic win last week
this was to be the crowning glory.
Goals came from James Thomas (3) who reached an amazing 50
league and cup goals, Jim (the legend) Campbell (3) Dave (goal
keeper turned striker) Banner (3) Tyler Peters Grant Evans Jack
Martin and Ben Sanders. Zak Scott was put up front in the second
half to secure his first goals for the season and club. He didnt
disappoint, and unselfishly set up three goals and then managed to
bag two memorable goals himself.
Credit once again to Coombs Wood for being one of the most
sporting sides in th league.
Man of the match - The whole of team put in a great performance
with Ben Sanders and Ben Brogan taking joint man of the match for
controlling the midfield.
10,000 air miles awarded to Marion for travelling the length
and bre ath of the Midlands and
still failing to get to the match. Still, she did have a mobile to
ring (but not anymore !!)
Tyler Peters - outstanding hat - trick
Dan Jenkins - What a goal ! Should have been
witnessed by so many more ! Official attendance 50+
James Thomas - On the score sheet - yet again !!
Man of the Match - Zac Scott - Like a brick - SOLID
!
Congratulations to Pepsi and his team on winning
the league with a fantastic win over Halas Hawkes
To avoid confusion there will be no match report
but well done lads on a great win to secure the league in style
!!!!

information !!????!!!!!!!
With a change of venue, a first start for Jim (the
Legend) Campbell since his injury and only managing to scrape
together 11 players this was a potential banana skin. The Legend
however was in fine form notching up a superb hat-trick. The team
battled well but with players out and others not having a full
match for a month due to fixtures and Pepsi's "tactical
substitutions", Westbury never took full control of the match
until the last fifteen minutes. Jack Martin scored a screamer from
outside the box and Jack Weatherby in his new role as striker
scored twice. Dave Banner was also on the score sheet after a long
clearance from his own area and a "wicked" deflection saw his
effort bounce over the keeper and into the empty net.
Man of the Match : Jim (the Legend) Campbell - A
fine hat-trick on his full match return.

Perrywoods
Youth 0-6 Westbury Celtic Youth
The game started with Westbury under constant pressure, the
sloping pitch and wind all a telling factor. Banner marshalled his
defence comprehensively. With Tyler Peters controlling the
midfield, it wasn't long before James Thomas burst through to open
the scoring . A goalmouth scramble saw Thomas prod home from 3
yards for his second. Pepsi introduced Jack Wetherby (remembered
to set his clock this week) who drilled home from 12 yards. Grant
Evans then rose like a salmon for a well deserved goal . Westbury
were dominant in all areas now and George Goldstraw scored a
spectacular curling shot from a full 25 yards .The defence did
their jobs keeping the opposition well away from the Bannermans
goal. Goldstraw weighed in with another goal 5 minutes
before the end.
Man of the Match Tyler Peters
Westbury were asked by Perrywoods to clean up mess
before leaving ie teddys:dummy:blanket small bottle!
A match that saw Westbury drop
points for only the second time this season. This was a very
physical match which together with the strong wind and sloping
pitch made attractive football almost impossible. James Thomas had
an effort go agonisingly wide and Chevez Philips had a header
cleared off the line. With only 11 players available each,
everyone made a fantastic effort.
Joint Man of the Match : Ben
Sanders - Won everything at the back to keep Kidderminster out
Ben Brogan - Never stopped
running and made some crucial tackles
Hasbury Rangers
4 - 0 Westbury Celtic U14's
Having not played
a match for over a month, not losing since October and playing in
the quarter final all added to the pressure in the match. In fact
Pepsi was concerned that the cup game may even have a deleterious
effect on the league. (His words not mine !!)
Hasbury
started the game much brighter and took the lead after some
hesitation in defence. Westbury battled well but we unable to
create many clear cut chances. Hasbury eventually ran out 4 - 0
winners which leaves a lot of work to do before the next league
match against Kidderminster.
Pepsi's Man of the
Match - Dave Banner
Worcester
Falcons 1 - 8 Westbury Celtic Youth
Another
outstanding performance by James Thomas who scored a dazzling
seven , yes 7, goals in
the match. James has now scored an unbelievable 43 league goals
which has made a considerable difference this season. His all
round play was outstanding , making telling runs and finishing in
spectacular style. Chevez Philips also scored a cracking goal.
The team
also welcomed Jim (The Legend) Campbell who supported the team
from the sidelines following his broken wrist. The whole team and
management think he is braver than a HUFFY PUFFY FISH !!! And have
seen the badge to prove it . Also thanks to Dave Campbell for his
support although he clearly impeded the linesman when there may
have been an offside !
Man of the Match -
James Thomas
Westbury
Celtic U14's 12 - 0 Coombes Wood Colts
The team put in
a good performance with some attractive passing football. Many
chances were created and there was a first half hat-trick from
Ben Brogan (3) and further goals from James Thomas (2) George
Goldstraw (2) Jim (the Legend) Campbell Jack Weatherby and a
special mention to Dan Coakes (2) and Grant Evans scored their
first goals for the club. Credit also goes to Combes Wood who
never gave up and played the match in good spirit.
Man of the Match
: Jack Weatherby - Made some fine tackles and strong runs
Westbury Celtic Youth 9 - 3 Hasbury Rangers Colts
Blink and you would have missed the first three goals in an
incredible start to the match. Hasbury went 2 - 0 up inside the
first two minutes with our own Joe Harris scoring an usual own
goal - chipping the keeper with the outside of his foot.
Westbury hit back through the ever consistent James Thomas after
some silky skills from Matt Long. Westbury dragged themselves back
into the game with a further goal from James Thomas who then
turned provider with a neat flick on for Jim (the Legend) Campbell
to run on to and finish well.
Hasbury battled well and pulled another goal back, which together
with the managers half time "gentle chat" finally forced Westbury
into action. James Thomas scored an incredible six goals in total
with some clinical finishing. Jack Martin finished well after a
Ben Sanders through ball and Ben Brogan scored a looping header
from a pin point accurate cross from Tyler Peters.
Dave Banner again pulled off some brilliant one on one saves to
keep Westbury in the match.
Man of the match : Grant Evans - Made strong runs and helped
steady the
defence.
Goal scorers : James Thomas 6, Jim Campbell, Jack Martin, Ben
Brogan
It has been well
over a month since Westburys last game and there was a certain
amount of rustiness about their football. Westbury had lots of
possession but did not create any clear cut chances.
Ben Brogan broke
the deadlock with a spectacular effort from outside the area to
put Westbury 1-0 up. Burlish keep themselves in the game and drew
level but James Thomas chipped in with two goals to take Westbury
ahead. Burlish again hit back but George Goldstraw sealed the
match with a well taken goal.
Jack Weatherby was
again confident and at ease in defence and was well supported by
Zak Scott.
Man of the
Match : Ben Sanders - Strong tackles and influential in midfield.
Westbury
Celtic U14's 7-2 St Johns Tigers
"Probably" the best performance of the season with
15 match winners each contributing. The team amalgamated well
throughout the match together with some clinical finishing. The
reverse fixture saw St Johns end Westburys 100% record but today
Westbury outplayed their opponents in every department. Westbury
got off to a fine start with a well taken finish from James Thomas
after a decisive through ball from Ben Sanders. James Thomas went
on to score five goals with some lightning turns of speed and
deadly finishing.
Ben Brogan set up three goals including one for Matt Long also got
on the score sheet himself.
Man of the match : Dave Banner - made several crucial saves which
enabled Westbury to keep control of the game.
Halas Hawks 1-2
Westbury Celtic U14's
With Westbury
Celtic lying in first place and Halas in third it was difficult to
predict what this game would "throw up" - although Pepsi did his
part the night before. Westbury Celtic continued their good form by
dominating the game early on. However it was Halas who took the lead
with a well taken goal and were 1-0 up at half time.
Pepsi rallied the team with a motivating half time team talk
with Westbury Celtic coming
back more determined in the second half and continued to
control the game. Westbury Celtic drew level
after some great individual work from George Goldstraw who lobbed
the keeper superbly. Westbury
then pushed for the winner and after Jack Martins strong run he
passed the ball to Grant Evans who laid the perfect pass for Jim
(the Legend) Campbell who slotted the ball coolly
into the net. Westbury continued to dictate the pace of the game and
finished worthy winners.
Man of the Match : Ben Brogan - Totally commanded the midfield
and was heavily involved in attack as well as defence.
Kinver Colts
0-5 Westbury Youth U14's
A strong performance which particularly pleased Pepsi as the
team achieved their first clean sheet of the season.
Ben Sanders got off to a quick start (which is more than
Pete's car) and steadied the defence well. Westbury again
created chances but it took some very clever work from Tyler
Peters to score from a free kick. Matt Long put in a good
cross for Chevez Philips to drill home to make the score 2-0
at half time.
The linesman (Pete again) asked for some oranges but the
parents felt he would have benefited from carrots. More
chances were created in the second half with Tyler adding a
second and James Thomas scoring (2) after being put through
by Ben Sanders. Jim (the Legend) Campbell had two
opportunities but complained about the mirror goalposts ?
Blinkers have been requested.
Man of the Match - Tyler Peters - two good strikes -
although allegedly this was announced way before the end of
the match !!
Burlish
Red 4 Westbury Celtic Youth U14's 10
After conceding a goal early on, Westbury managed to get
back into the game and were 3-1 up at half time. Goals from
Jack Martin, George Goldstraw (2), Matt Long, Tyler Peters,
and the inevitable hat-trick from James Thomas were added to
with the best of the goals with a volley from Jim (the
Legend) Campbell, and a top corner strike from Ben Brogan
who was introduced to the game late on in the first half.
Man of the Match - Ben Brogan
Burlish Red
1 Westbury Celtic Youth U14's
Cup fever was on us with an away tie against Burlish Red. The
first half was controlled by Westbury Celtic but only had a Matt
Long
goal to show for their efforts. Westbury Celtic stepped up their
game in the second half with goals from Ben Sanders Jack Martin
George Goldstraw. The best move of the match came from a Dave
Banner clearance to Matt Long who laid a perfect pass for James
Thomas
to finish superbly.
Pepsi was accused of nepotism by some of the parents and duly
substituted the very busy Tyler to save face. Pepsi was also keen
to keep the same squad working together as he had earlier learnt
that the reserves had lost 5-2 ...If it aint broke don't fix it
!!!! (Get on that level one Woody!)
Man of the match - Dave Banner - Encouraged the team throughout
and made three outstanding saves.
Westbury Celtic Youth U14's 8-2 Worcester Facons
A much improved display from the whole of the
team right from the start.
Some great passing football took Westbury Celtic Youth on to
a new echelon.
James Thomas opened the scoring and once again proved
decisive in front of
goal and scored five in total.
Jim (The Legend) Campbell showed how useful he is as a
utility player and
scored twice up front. Ben Brogan set up four of the goals
and also numerous
other chances. He also went on to score a fine individual
effort from the
half way line.
Dan Coakes and Joe Harris both stepped up their game and
worked well in the
back four with Jack Weatherby and Zak Scott.
Quote of the match " They won't score if we don't concede "
Worcester
Falcons went on to score two - Thanks Pepsi .
Man of the Match - James Thomas - Scored five today taking
his tally to 16
for the season - Keep it going James.
St
Johns Tigers 3-1 Westbury Celtic Youth U14's
Westbury Celtic Youth U14s 100% record came crashing to an end
away to St Johns Tigers. A disappointing result in a game
where once again Westbury had the majority of possession and
made several clear cut chances. The highlight of the match was
a cracking finish from Tyler Peters to bring the score back to
2-1 but the team were unable to capitalize further.
The usually phlegmatic manager was later heard to say "The
only thing we got right today was the filling in of the team
sheet - so my man of the match was my assistant Kevin Brogan"
Westbury Celtic Youth U14's 7 - 1 Perrywoods Youth
After much deliberation and a great deal of cogitation Pepsi
in the end decided to go for a 3-5-3 formation. He then
realised he had too many players on the pitch and opted for a
3-5-2. Westbury had long spells throughout the game with
possession but did not really turn this to their advantage.
Joe Maccathie opened the scoring but Perrywoods drew level
shortly after. Jack Weatherby scored an absolute screamer from
outside the box to open his account for the season. Jim (the
Legend) Campbell battled well in midfield and was on the
scoresheet once again. Other Goal scorers were George
Goldstraw (2) Matt Long and James Thomas.
Man of the match ; Jim (the Legend) Campbell -
Strong and determined in Midfield.
Martley & Holt 1-8 Westbury Celtic Youth U14's
The match was met with great anticipation as Westbury Celtic
were lying in
first place and Martley & Holt in second place in the
league. Westbury
Celtic had a fine start with Ben Brogan putting James Thomas
through for the
first goal in the first minute. James went on to complete
his hat- trick and
has now scored nine goals in two games.
Westbury created chance after chance and were disappointed
to only go in at
half time 2-1 up.
After a rousing speech from Pepsi at half-time (some of it
in Spanish) the
lads responded in the best possible way and went on to score
another six
goals. Joe (Macca) MacCathie (2) Matt Long ,George Goldstraw
and Jim (the
Legend) Campbell were the other goal scorers.
Man of the Match : James Thomas another great hat-trick
Westbury
Celtic Youth U14's 9-1 Kinver Colts
The team had their best game of the season so far with the
defence being solid, the midfield creative with lots of
running and the forwards scoring nine great goals. Westbury
Celtic opened the Scoring with James Thomas who the went on
to complete his hat-trick before half time. Kinver pulled a
goal back just before half time.
The second half Westbury were creating lots
of opportunities and most of them were falling for James
Thomas who went on to complete a second hat trick. Dan
Jenkins worked hard both in defence and later in midfield
and was rewarded with a goal. George Goldstraw and Jim
Campbell were also on the
score sheet.
Man of the match : James Thomas - for scoring an incredible
six goals.
Westbury Celtic Youth U14's 2-1 Kidderminster Athletic
Our first home game of the season saw the visit of
Kidderminster Athletic. Westbury Celtic started the game well
and had a great deal of possession but failed to turn their
pressure into goals. Eventually a strong run and a top corner
finish from Ben Brogan broke the deadlock. This should have
calmed the team down but they were still not clinical in front
of goal. The second half followed a similar pattern and almost
inevitably Kidderminster came back into the game with a break
away goal. This did give Westbury the kick start they needed
but with five minutes left on the clock, it did not look good
for Westbury. A corner was awarded in the last couple of
minutes and Chevez Philips played a short ball to Ben Brogan,
who dragged the ball back, beating the defender and from an
acute angle drove the ball into the net. Westbury Celtic made
hard work of this game but with the amount of possession and
chances on goal the final score reflected the overall game.
(Kevin Brogan)
Man of the match : Ben Brogan – Worked extremely hard in
midfield and scored two outstanding individual goals.
Hasbury Rangers 1 -5 Westbury Celtic Youth
Great excitement met the first match of the season away to
Hasbury Raiders. The game began slowly with both sides playing
cautiously and very few opportunities being created. It took
some excellent individual work from George Goldstraw to open
the scoring. This was followed by a corner from Tyler Peters
for Matt Long to smash home a terrific left foot volley. Half
time score 0 –2.
Westbury were slow to start the second half and this saw
Hasbury pull a goal back. Jack Martin made a great opening and
laid the ball back for Tyler Peters to smash the ball into the
top corner.
James Thomas had a great game on the left and after a good run
was able to cut in and put the ball into the net to make it
4-1 to Westbury. This was later followed by a Chevez Philips
goal to make the final score 5-1.
Westbury Celtic controlled the game well with the back four
holding firm throughout the game. Zac Scott was particularly
strong and instrumental in defence.
Man of the Match : Zac Scott
