12th September 2009

Team Alex Evans, James Palmer (3 goals), Lewis Williams (1 goal & cpt), Connor Rodgers, Joe Smith, Melissa Hinton, Matty Blackmore, Jacob Saunders (1 goal), Ollie Rouse and Ollie Thompson (3 goals).

On a glorious sunny Saturday morning the pitch and the weather were perfect to hold Westbury under 9’s first league game of the season.  After a few late arrivals by some of the players Tony Rouse , assistant manager, got the players together for a pre match warm up and team talk, as usual a few listening and a few day dreaming!

Ben Brogan (ref) got the game under way and L & B Badgers started the game the best knocking the ball about well.  Following this good start they went 1 up with a good finish by their striker.  Westbury seemed to be day dreaming and enjoying the sunshine more than the football but after a few encouraging words from Rod Smith and Tony Rouse and all our supporters in the crowd Westbury seemed to pull together and scored their first goal.  This seemed to pick all the players up and their concentration finally kicked in.  From them on L & B Badgers found it more and more difficult to get themselves into the game and wave after wave of good passing and attacking football from Westbury brought more goals!

Starting off the second half Westbury were straight out off the blocks and continued how they finished the first half with flair and confidence creating chances and taking them with great professionalism .

This was a great all round performance by all the players and every single player deserves a pat on the back from their supporters.

Thanks for all the support.

Rod Smith (manager) and Tony Rouse (assistant Manager)
