Westbury started the game
well with some early
pressure seeing a goal
from Charlie W from a
cross by Ben K. Malvern
responded by putting
pressure on Francesco and
Harry at the back who held
out well until Malvern
broke through to score an
equaliser making it 1-1.
With
Westbury back on the ball
they were playing well as
a team with passes from
Charlie W and Harry Stokes
giving opportunities in
the Malvern goal area.
Charlie Q saw his shot go
just wide whilst Benjamin
kicked toward goal only to
have his shot deflected
wide also.
Malvern responded to the
pressure stringing passes
together making Harry
stretch to try to save the
shot which unfortunately
ended up in the back of
the net, 2-1.
With
the first half coming to
an end Malvern hit a great
shot which sailed passed
everyone and would have
given even Van der Sar
trouble making the score
3-1.
To
close the half Westbury
pressurised the Malvern
goal-line getting 2
corners, taken by Charlie
Q right into the target
area. Both were missed by
the attackers going across
the face of goal but the
pressure did lead to an
own goal leaving the score
3-2 at half time.
The
second half saw Westbury
coming out fast with
plenty of good passing
play between the whole
team. Pressure was
building when within the
space of just 5 minutes
Ben K and Charlie Q put
shots against the post and
Alistair had his shot
saved by the keeper.
In
response, Malvern attacked
well and earned a free
kick. This was asking for
another great save from
Harry Staley, he didn’t
disappoint and kept the
team in the game.
Westbury broke forward
from defence with passes
from Francesco to Charlie
Q who passed back to Harry
Stokes on the edge of the
box who shot hard toward
goal. Benjamin’s head
gave a great deflection to
level the scores to 3-3.
A great strike from
defender Harry.
In
the dying minutes of the
game Ben K made a crucial
tackle on the edge of his
own box coming away
cleanly with the ball.
The referee awarded a free
kick to Malvern Town.
They scored, taking the
kick quickly and with no
time left to come back
from this the final score
was 4-3 and a
disappointment for the
boys who had played so
well and deserved a draw.
Player of the game was
Charlie Quinn.
